Recommended Georgia Campgrounds
McCallister State Park
McCallister State Park in Georgia, located south of Savannah, is easily accessible from the highway but nestled on an island where wildlife is abundant. During our short stay, we saw several deer and an armadillo. The campground is surrounded by a salt marsh, and there is a fishing pier where you can enjoy fishing or just the beautiful sunset. The park features a playground, walking trails, a museum, and the historic fort from Civil War times. The large oaks and Spanish moss that grow throughout the park add to its beauty. Several geocaches can be found in the park, providing fun activities for kids while hiking.
